FIRST OIL AT BEDFORDSHIRE-700 - operator's statement, 04:12 local time

The platform stands in 214 m of water: 38,000 t of topsides, two helidecks, a crew of 96, design throughput 128,000 barrels per day. First oil was achieved at 03:47, twenty minutes ahead of the revised schedule; the loading system was commissioned with the arrival of the first shuttle tanker at first light. Recoverable reserves are booked for 42 years of production.

The operator thanks the four thousand people who carried the field from discovery to production in nine years without a lost-time incident. As is customary, the field takes its name from the geological formation that holds it.
